Manado
Manado is a capital city from North Sulawesi. Manado has 98 sub-districts and villages. Manado is located in Manado Bay, and is surrounded by mountainous areas and its coastline is reclaimed land which is used as a shopping area. This city had 408,354 residents from 2010 Census, making it the second largest city on Sulawesi Island after Makassar City.
The people of Manado are often called "Warga Kawanua", which in Minahasa means "residents of the land". The term "Kawanua" is also believed to come from the word "Wanua", which in Old Malay (Proto Malay) is interpreted as "Residential area".
The city of Manado has many natural tourist destinations that are popular among local and foreign tourists. Among them, Bunaken National Park which has been inaugurated by UNESCO, Manado Tua Island, Siladen Island, Malalayang Beach, Lake Tondano, Mount Lokon, Mount Klabat and Mount Mahawu.
